Description
You’ve probably heard about design thinking, whether you’ve read an article or watched an online video. But then what? How do you apply the principles and make an impact? How are companies applying design thinking? What business results come from it? Design thinking is not just a trendy buzzword, but a proven and practical method to create human-centered solutions.
During this session, Sally Vlietstra, senior manager of GM’s Center of Learning, walks participants through a detailed design thinking case study for a recent learning initiative. Learner feedback was positive. Survey results were good. General Motors turned to design thinking to uncover how they could be even better.
Vlietstra will address activities in each of the five phases of design thinking, sharing best practices and lessons learned that helped her team uncover the voice of the learner and readjust their learner experience strategy. Whether participants are new to design thinking or experienced practitioners, this session will benefit all as she illustrates successes as well as pitfalls and challenges. Understanding case studies will help participants jump-start their transformative journey from being a design thinking theoretical learner to a design thinking practitioner.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn the step-by-step practical application of design thinking stages within a global learning organization.
- Discover the best practices for each of the five phases in design thinking.
